R4i Gold Plus Firmware Download
kenji – if you’re considering the r4i gold, don’t. the firmware for the card is outdated, and sony’s new firmware works better than the one included with the r4i gold (as of 4/23). there is a newer update available on the developer’s site, but it doesn’t seem to work on the card. i’m still not sure why the r4i gold is so outdated, but if you have the chance, get the r4i gold (i’ll be happy to give you my links to the update), then update the firmware to the latest version available from sony. i would suggest the v2.5 firmware.
i couldnt get the firmware update to work on my r4i gold. i had updated the firmware to v2.5 and i got the card to show it was updated but when i went to upgrade the firmware it wouldnt go to the upgrade screen. so i sent it back to the store and they came up with a new firmware that they say works better. just wanted to let you know that it is not working. i am still using the firmware that came with the card.
a_c – the r4i gold is quite outdated, the new sony firmware works better. do yourself a favor and get the r4i gold. if you get an r4i gold, you’ll know its well worth it. its small, light and convenient.
i used a blackberry 9790 to try out the r4i gold. i have used a blackberry before, and i have to say, it was a really good experience. it has a good browser, it can handle email, and it was easy to use.
2. after flashing process completes, disassemble the card to gain access to the r4i gold plus chip, then reassemble and place it back into the slot, then wait till the r4i gold 3ds rts card boots into the home menu, it will begin flashing again (about 1-5 minutes), when it flashes for the second time, it will boot into the main menu of your flashcart, now you can use the card normally.
i would recommend this for the purpose of installing the latest 1.44 from nintendo – to avoid stability issues with 1.42 and above (which are buggy for a lot of people – including me – on the latest 1.44 nintendo update). you will also need the r4i 3ds, r4i 3ds rts card, nintendo 3ds 4.2.09 or nintendo dsi/dsi xl 1.44. i would also recommend that you update your 3ds version to at least 3.4.0. you can get this update from the shop on the eshop. once you have updated, you will need to install the latest firmware. this will be the same as any other 3ds or dsi 1.44 firmwares. (it’s worth noting that the firmware will not work with the 3ds models that have been released since july 2013).

i’m running this one on my cube x8 v2. this is how you install your ns-310 on your cubex8 v2. as i said above, once you install your ns-310, you will have to do this as well. installing this will put you back to firmware version 1.32.
this is the firmware i’m running on my cube x8 v2. i have to do this as well. i installed it so i can have the option of booting into safe mode. i use my cube for running virtualbox and other things. i have to have this installed so i can boot into safe mode.
before flashing the update, make sure to format your r4i gold plus memory card with the supplied iso image or just use fdisk to delete the fat32 partition and make it fat16. the upgrade will not work on fat32 partitions.
