Inception

The storefront is intended to allow customers to purchase Autodesk products more quickly than they could by visiting an Autodesk store. The Autodesk webstore allows customers to order AutoCAD software or add-ons, view product information, technical support, view support documents and order accessories such as flash drives and printers.
AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD Mechanical are based on the same code base and share the same 2D and 3D drawing functionality. This is also true for some of the add-on applications which can be used together with either one of the two AutoCAD programs. It is possible to convert a drawing from one application to another.

AutoCAD LT was released on 16 June 2007, which is the native format for the AutoCAD LT program. The program supports the same features as AutoCAD and has the same level of functionality. AutoCAD LT uses 2D CAD drawing and editing, and 3D modeling and visualizing of 3D objects. Its functionality is similar to AutoCAD in the 1980s. The program provides a modeler-like functionality, but, unlike AutoCAD LT, does not provide 2D drafting and 3D modeling and visualizing.
