Spent a lot of time trying to get Voice Enabled Option (VOX) on my Motorola Cliq (2.2) to work on home and work desktops. Sounds like a good idea, but the Motorola ROM is a mess. I was able to install it on the phone, but the applications or games or whatever will not install at all on my desktop at home or office. I have tried almost every ROM out there for the Cliq. Tried to get the USB-Wireless Card Drivers v1.3 to work…made no difference. Called Motorola customer service, and they told me it was a graphics issue. Anything I did to the system would just get worse. And no matter what I tried on the phone, VOX would not work on the desktop. Tried different ROMs and they all had issues.
After exploring the web for a year or so, I stumbled upon an ROM that had VOX running. It was someone else’s ROM. I downloaded it, and sure enough, voX worked great on the phone (and still does). I downloaded it to my desktop. Installed it. VOX worked great. Then, when I tried to get voice enabled apps to work, they didn’t. So I tried to find the ROM. I went to Motorola’s site and went to the Find My Device. I used the auto-fill to find my model, and sent a request to the ROM database. The ROM that I had downloaded was not on the list, and I didn’t have my model number. I tried different models and even contacted Motorola customer support, and they couldn’t tell me what ROM I had or the model number of my phone.
I am very unhappy with the Motorola experience. I love the phone, and even though VOX works, I am stuck without voice enabled apps. I know that Motorola has a voice enabled PC application (which I will have to pay
