Pearson Limited is the result of the merger of Pearson Group and Penguin Group plc. It is a highly profitable company with revenues of $17bn in 2009. On 5 August 2009 Pearson sold its textbook and multimedia publishing business to Pearson Group for £20bn, forming Pearson Group (PG) to reduce the tax burden and focus on teaching materials.
