It’s been a long time coming, but Star Wars Battlefront 2 is finally here. Though each of the four eras that comprise the Star Wars franchise has its own single-player campaign, there is also a story mode that focuses on the original trilogy. Battlefront 2 starts off with the beginning of the Battle of Yavin, where the Rebels and Imperials square off against each other. From there, each faction gets to take part in its own set of missions. The loot system is as addicting as ever, with the loot being a bit more varied than it was in Battlefront, meaning more attachments and items, which is great. With Finn, Chewbacca, Poe Dameron, and Leia included as the main heroes, this is another great Star Wars game.
Hit the Battle of Yavin first, if your game is story mode. The new story mode is one of the best ones in a Star Wars game, not to mention the best one since Knights of the Old Republic. Star Wars: Battlefront is a gorgeous game, especially with the mode after the Battle of Yavin playing in 4K, and the gameplay is a lot of fun and controls really well. There are just a few things that need tweaking, like making the Emperor screen bigger so the camera doesn’t get mired down in the extra-large and hard to control camera, and there is a degree of inconvenience with the loot system. Either way, it’s a really solid game and one of the best-looking Star Wars games, and it’s got everything to keep you entertained for hours and hours.
Star Wars Rebel Commando: This is a 3D space shooter game that takes place in the Star Wars universe. Its pretty plain to see that this is a well polished game with nice production values. If you’re a fans of shooters, this might be your next fix!
Of course, it wouldnt be Star Wars without some epic battles. Whenever a player enters a system with enemy forces, combat is triggered. First, any space battles are resolved, followed by ground battles. The combat system is a little complex, so I wont go too in depth into it. Essentially, players roll dice according to what ships/units are attacking and using tactic cards gained by participating leaders. This game is amazing. It is the Star Wars game that Ive been waiting for, the one that puts me squarely into the universe and makes me feel like Im a part of it. The thematic elements are off the charts, and the gameplay is incredibly rewarding. While the combat could be a little streamlined and the listed player count is somewhat disingenuous, this is an awesome game that I cant ever see leaving my collection. Even with its 3-4 hour playtime, Ive still gotten in twelve plays of this game.
One of the best Star Wars games Ive ever played. Im playing as Anakin and I must admit, I don’t really feel like Anakin. In fact, I do not feel like a good Jedi at all. I am killing innocent children and beating up a group of great Jedi Masters, just for the sake of it. I fight them all with my lightsaber and turn them to their own dark side. I also always take out my lightsaber and whip it around to intimidate and kill others. Its so much fun! Its a game I couldnt put down. The story is really fantastic and makes you feel for the Jedi that Obi-Wan forces to kill. I think this is a great Star Wars game, but to be honest, I am not enjoying it as much as I would have liked. Its hard to explain but its kinda like playing through a young Skywalker-ish version of New Super Mario Bros Wii or Super Smash Bros Brawl. In Nsbmwii and SSBB you can execute a luigi dead air dair smash attack that kills 2-3 of your opponent, whereas in SW:Reb 1 you get nothing to kill your opponent. Maybe if you had better weapons than your lightsaber, you could really start insta-killing and smash guys.
