i enjoyed the game. the interface, while not as good as the first, was far more intuitive than the second one. the game had a lot of life in it, and i thought it was well-designed. i did have some issues with it, though:

the save system wasn’t very robust. we lost a game when the save was corrupted.
the unit management was a bit messy: it was very difficult to know what all of your units had been moved or where they were, and it was tough to move them to their proper locations.
the ranged attacks were a bit strange. they were weird-looking creatures that flew on arrows, and in some cases it was hard to tell when they hit. i had to move my units to the right spot before i was sure i had hit them.
it was annoying that i could only manage one city at a time. i had to keep track of all of them, making them look pretty on the map.
the two spells in the game seemed a bit weird. they would sometimes change the rules of battle, but they seemed like things that people would do only in very special situations.
the battle system was weird, but not in a bad way. you weren’t supposed to be able to attack once the battle began.
